22 Weeks

I've been feeling pretty large and in charge lately. Poor Ryan has had to deal with me being upset about clothes and my appearance. He's a saint though. The other day when I saw the scale I cried. I never planned on ever seeing that number on a scale... and I'm only halfway there. He keeps reminding me it is a good thing and I'm not going overboard.  It is still hard though.

We had to call the doctor last night. We had a little scare. I was having severe pain in my left side/stomach. From under my boob to my hip.  The on call doctor told me it is probably from everything stretching inside including my ligaments. She had me lay on my left side and drink 8 glasses of water.  It seemed to help and I pretty much passed out once the pain went away.  Ryan did a great job getting me anything I needed... including more pillows and blankets.. oh and an oreo hot fudge sundae... maybe that's what I'm feeling large.

How far along?:  22 weeks, 4 days.
Total weight gain: 15 pounds
Maternity clothes?: Strictly maternity clothes (unless they are big sweatshirts). I tried to wear one of my old long sleeved shirts to work the other day... let's just say thankfully I keep a chunky sweater at work too!
Stretch marks?: None
Sleep: Now that I can exercise more I find that I am able to sleep in a little later than 5:30am.  This morning didn't wake up until 7:30 (except for the frequent bathroom trips throughout the night).
Best moment this week: Prepping the nursery some more.  Now we have it completely painted (last week), bought a new rug for the room, built the crib, and moved the dresser/changing table into the nursery. It's coming along.  Ryan has been working really hard on it.  Another great thing about this week is finally having enough energy to get 30 minutes in on the treadmill at least 4times a week. :)
Miss anything?: Still craving turkey subs/sandwiches. Whomp whomp.
Movement: Lots of little kicks/flutters here and there.  She seems to love to have Beyonce dance parties... just like her Momma.
Food cravings: Candy and desserts... which was not good during Valentine's day. My sweet students brought in so much candy for me-- Ryan had to take some of it away.
Anything making you queasy or sick: The other day I had a coffee and threw up immediately after drinking it.  I guess that's what I get for having coffee.
Gender: Baby GIRL! :)
Labor signs:  No
Symptoms: Headaches are less frequent.... shortness of breath and heartburn have been frequent visitors.
Belly button in or out?  It's turning towards out. I will be surprised if it's still in next week.
Wedding rings on or off?  On, except at night still.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy most of the time.  I do get moody quickly--- like when we drove all the way to the outlets and didn't find anything. Ryan is a saint and helps calm me down though.
Looking forward to: Relaxing on vacation this week, cleaning out more rooms (like my office), and catching up with teacher friends since we are so busy during the school year.

Our first baby, Rocco, turns 6 on Wednesday. I can't believe my lil guy is almost 6. Such an old man!! He's been very protective over his Mumma.  When I was laying on the bathroom floor crying in pain, he came right over to me and gave me kisses galore.  He knows the baby's name... so when we say Rocco go to "____'s room" he runs right upstairs to the nursery. I'm not sure if he knows what ______ is, I highly doubt it, but it is still adorable. (Yes we are keeping baby girl's name a secret)

Speaking of the nursery... here are some pictures of what we have done.

We still have a lot to do, but we're getting there.... we also still have 18 weeks so plenty of time!

21 Weeks

How far along?:  21 weeks, 4 days.
Total weight gain: 11 pounds
Maternity clothes?: Some of my old shirts still fit, but I am strictly in maternity pants. Belly belts are no longer comfy... however, I have become a huge support of maternity pants. So comfortable!
Stretch marks?: None!
Sleep: I am still exhausted throughout the day.  I nap sometimes after work before hubby gets home.  At night I sleep okay-- toss and turn a lot and wake up multiple times to pee.
Best moment this week: Ryan felt the baby kick/move/hit for the first time!! And has felt her many times after that.  Also, going to the doctor's and hearing her heartbeat.  And officially asking my sister to be baby girl's Godmother :) And finishing painting the nursery!  Okay, there were a lot of great moments this week!
Miss anything?: Turkey sandwiches and adult beverages.
Movement: Not yet!
Food cravings: Burgers and sweets...
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not so much anymore... other than the smell of meat cooking- but that was there before too.
Gender: Baby GIRL! :)
Labor signs:  No
Symptoms: Headaches, peeing a lot, and out of breath frequently.  My doctor said all those are common- especially the out of breath because of the hormones.
Belly button in or out?  In... but slowly going away.
Wedding rings on or off?  On, except at night still.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy - except when you cross me... then I turn even quicker than before.
Looking forward to: Setting up the furniture in the nursery now that it is all painted! :)

Catching up... and our Gender Reveal Party

Whoops! It has been 5 weeks since I've last posted. So much has happened since then.

Including our Gender Reveal Party...

Ryan and I opted to find out the sex with our families at the Gender Reveal Party (Jan 20th).  So I had the ultrasound tech write down the sex in a sealed card and had a separate envelope that had the confirming ultrasound pictures.  I brought the envelope to White's Bakery in Brockton and a few hours later they made this beautiful cake.  It was so tempting not to just cut open before the guests got there.

Ryan, Brooklyn, and I made all the decorations.  We obviously chose a football theme. :)

Guests voted on helmets that I cut out at school.

After everyone ate, it was time to cut the cake... (some of these pictures are cell phone pictures so they aren't best quality).

We cut in....

and found out....

Baby is a GIRL! :)

I have also slacked on Chalkboard pictures....  Here is one from 20 weeks.  We are taking the 21 week picture today... so I will update later. :)

16 Weeks!

How far along?: 16 weeks, 4 days.
Total weight gain: about 4 pounds
Maternity clothes?: I'm still able to wear my clothes, but my pants I need to use the belly belt that my dear friend Melissa gave me to borrow. My old shirts still fit, but my belly shows big time.
Stretch marks?: None yet... fingers crossed I don't get too many.
Sleep: Still falling asleep early, but I feel like I have more energy during the day-- despite waking up 4-5 times a night to pee!
Best moment this week: We started our registry today-- just registering for a few things. :) And FINALLY being able to eat peanut butter again!
Miss anything?: My super straight, non-stringy hair... and an adult beverage every now and again!
Movement: Not yet!
Food cravings: Oranges, humus
Anything making you queasy or sick:
Gender: We find out the 20th.  But, last night I had my very first baby dream... and the baby was a girl! So we will see. :)
Labor signs:  No
Symptoms: Very thirsty, terrible migraines, hungry all the time, my hair is super stringy, pimples, and throwing up probably about once a week in the morning.
Belly button in or out?  In
Wedding rings on or off?  On, except at night still.
Happy or moody most of the time: I would say happy, but I think hubby would say otherwise!
Looking forward to: Going to the doctor tomorrow for our 16 week check up... hoping they let us see the baby!

15 Weeks!

Total rookie mistake leaving the chalk on the board!

How far along?: 15 weeks, 2 days!
Total weight gain: 3 pounds
Maternity clothes?: Some-- I'm still able to rock my jeggings for now and some shirts... but maternity yoga pants, leggings, and tunics have become my new best friends. My work pants are too tight, but I am not big enough for the belly band my work bestie gave me, so right now it has been a lot of leaving pants unbuttoned or maternity leggings.  Thankfully I am on vacation so I don't have to worry about work pants until after New Years... so looks like I'm going shopping!
Stretch marks?: None yet!
Sleep: I fall asleep very early (like 8pm early) and am awake throughout the night to pee (about every 3-4 hours)... I also am up by 6am every single morning... regardless of the day of the week.
Best moment this week: Spending Christmas with our families (and receiving the cutest baby gifts for little baby).
Miss anything?: Soda!!! Is that awful? And being able to bake... and eat peanut better banana waffles.
Movement: Not yet. My OBGYN told me I shouldn't feel anything until I am about 20 weeks since this is my first... I am hoping to feel movement earlier though!
Food cravings:  I want Five Guys Burgers almost everyday... but I've always loved their burgers so I am not sure if that is a craving or just me wanting burgers. Haha.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Peanut Butter and Eggs.  Even the thought of them right now makes me want to vomit!
Gender: Hoping to find out January 20th-- which seems soooo far away.
Labor signs:  No
Symptoms: Still getting sick every morning (a few times), back pain, and exhaustion.
Belly button in or out?  In
Wedding rings on or off?  On, except at night when my hands swell.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy most of the time... however if you cross me, the wrath of Kelsey is way worse than before!
Looking forward to: Finding out the sex next month!

So... when are you two going to have a baby?

So Ryan and I are at the age where many of our friends are either pregnant or already have babies. We are also at the point of our marriage where apparently it is expected that we start making a family by members of society.... and by members of society I mean family members, friends, co-workers, and RANDOMS.  The amount of times we have been asked when we will start making babies is absolutely incredible.  I don't know why or when questions relating to baby-making became a normal thing to ask, however it makes me terribly uncomfortable.

This past weekend, Ryan and I went to several different events.  Ryan had a bachelor party all weekend, plus we had several cookouts to attend.  People who are family friends or family members of friends asked us numerous times when we would have a baby or when we would give insert baby names here a friend.  Previously, our generic response was "when the time is right."  This weekend, I got so fed up with the question, I told these family friends to give me their number and I will FaceTime them every single time we try so that they are in the loop. I know, that is awful.  My parents, who were sitting with me, were mortified.  However, I have gotten to the point where I am so tired and sick of that question.

I feel like today, people just don't get it. What if Ryan and I have been trying for a whole and it just hasn't happened?  What if I cannot get pregnant due to my health issues? What if we decided to not have children?  What if we are currently trying? What if we were pregnant and have experienced a miscarriage? What if it is just none of your damn business?

Don't get me wrong.  Ryan and I love babies. We love love love playing with our friends' babies and we are SO happy for our friends. We know someday we want a baby. We know that when the time is right, we will have a baby.  We also know when the time is right we will tell people.... However, for the time being, we do not need the million questions of why and when.  We would appreciate if people just let us deal with that aspect of our relationship without the peanut gallery because whenever it does happen, we would like to be the one to share the news. We would like for it to be somewhat of a surprise.

Several of my closest friends (and his) know our "baby making" situation. These are people who I've felt comfortable discussing it with-- and lack family members not because I do not love them dearly, but because (as previously mentioned) I would like for it to be a surprise whenever it does happen.

I will let you know this... Ryan and I are extremely happy with our marriage and our time together right now.  We enjoy traveling, going to sporting events, going concerts, snuggling in bed with Rocco, and going out to eat frequently... and I personally enjoy a "Cape Codder" every now and again.   I have completed my M.Ed and he is currently working on/starting his MBA.  We have a busy life. We know whenever a baby comes along our life style will have to change drastically. We also know we have to be ready for those changes.

So, the lesson for today... stop asking people if they are having babies soon or when they plan on having babies. It is none of your business.... and when it is your business the couple will let you know.

Family Blog

Since I do a very poor job keeping my teacher page up but thoroughly miss writing, I decided to create a Ryan and Kelsey blog... a blog about our happenings. ;)  I can't promise it will be all that exciting, but I can promise you it will be us.
